Contract Lifting FAQ’s

How much does a contract lift cost?

The cost depends on the weight and size of the load, the crane needed, site access and ground conditions, how long the lift takes, the number of personnel required and whether the work is out of hours. A contract lift costs more than CPA crane hire because it includes planning, an Appointed Person, a full lift team and insurance. In practice, though, it can work out cheaper overall because you don’t need to arrange your own lift planning, personnel or insurance. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.

What are the advantages of a contract lifting service?

A contract lift moves the responsibility, risk and paperwork of the lifting operation from you to us. We provide the Appointed Person, lift plan, RAMS, crane, qualified lift team and insurance, so you don’t need in-house lifting expertise and your liability is greatly reduced.

Who is responsible for the lift under a contract lift?

We are. Under a contract lift, Steve Pinter Lifting provides the Appointed Person, who plans the lift and takes responsibility for the lifting operation. Our lift supervisor controls the lift on site.

What is an Appointed Person?

An Appointed Person is a qualified, experienced individual who plans the lifting operation and has overall control of it. They assess the risks, select the crane and equipment, prepare the lift plan and make sure the lift is carried out safely. Every contract lift we carry out includes an Appointed Person.

Is insurance included in a contract lift?

Yes. Our contract lifts include crane insurance and cover for damage to the goods being lifted, as well as our liability for the operation.

Do I need a site survey?

For most contract lifts, yes. A site survey lets us check access, ground conditions, overhead hazards and the lifting position so we can choose the right crane and plan the lift safely. Site surveys are included in our contract lifting service.

How much notice do you need for a contract lift?

This depends on the complexity of the lift and the planning involved. Simple lifts can often be arranged at short notice, while larger lifts may need more time for surveys, permits and road closures.
